This visual has come in handy more times that I ever imagined. As young children learn to navigate the complexities of social situations, relationships, and emotions, they need tools to support them.

This chart is a simple addition to your repertoire of social emotional skill development. To introduce it, use puppets or felt characters (or the images provided taped to blocks) and tell a social story with a problem. Model how one character follows the steps to help the other character feel better. Practice again and again and soon you will see the children using it too!
